Video technology
Video is almost always a vital part of modern productions. Different types of screens to display messages, cameras to film content and control systems to show the right material on the right screen and channel at the right time. With competent staff and the right equipment for every occasion, we deliver video solutions for all types of projects."For us, four small letters hold a large and important part of our business. Projections, panoramic solutions, LED walls, camera productions, streaming solutions, media servers, pixel mapping, TV screens, touchscreens and more are all different parts of what we call video"We have always seen image and video as something more than just a surface to communicate a message on. With large integrated video solutions as part of the set design, you get a very powerful tool for creating form and emotion in your production.
We have extensive experience creating video solutions for all kinds of meetings, events and concerts – from LED screens behind DJs to video panoramas at conferences and facade projections.
Video in different contexts
A video solution from EDGE can take many different forms. It can be a camera production recording in a studio for a digital broadcast or a 30 m wide video panorama above a stage in Globen. Regardless of scope, we create our video solutions with the same precision and creative ambition. Below are some examples of solutions our clients frequently request:Panoramic video solutions for stages and events
A panorama is always an effective part of a set design. The digital backdrop provides an unbeatable opportunity to completely change the feel and tone of the stage with colour and shape at the touch of a button. Together with a media server, the panorama becomes a digital canvas where different sources can be combined and interact in perfect symbiosis.A panorama is created either with an LED screen or with one or more projectors. The projectors can either be mounted to project onto the same surface in a so-called double stack, or side by side to cover different portions of the surface in a so-called blend.
Integrated video solutions for expo products
Trade fair stands and pop-up installations almost always contain some form of digital presentation surfaces. These can be recessed TV screens showing product videos, computers and tablets in kiosk mode, or a large high-resolution LED screen built into the stand – which certainly attracts attention.Video solutions for digital meetings and streaming
Digital meetings and streaming have always been a significant part of EDGE's video department. We offer both fully equipped studios for recording and streaming, and mobile solutions where we set up a complete broadcast studio at your venue. We have extensive experience with digital platforms such as Teams, Zoom and Hop-in. We also have a close partnership with Swedish Twebcast and can together offer a digital platform combining interactivity and streaming in one place.
Our video solutions include
Our stock of video equipment is constantly being renewed as the development of these products moves at an extraordinary pace. We use high-end products from quality brands and suppliers for the greatest possible reliability and performance.Video projections
We have high-brightness, high-resolution projectors from manufacturers including Epson and Christie Digital. We project onto front and rear projection screens, facades, set elements and stage floors. Where needed, we can distort the projection to compensate for physical challenges through warp – typically via projector control software or a media server. Projectors are often a strong alternative due to their light weight and lower cost compared to an LED screen.LED walls
Sometimes an LED wall is the only solution. This may be due to the screen's exceptional brightness or the advantage of having speakers stand directly in front without the space that rear projection requires. LED screens are also an excellent choice for outdoor use, available in IP-rated versions with high brightness.Screens with and without interactivity
We stock a large number of screens for different purposes. Smaller screens work well as monitors or recessed in expo and trade fair products. Larger screens suit presentations or camera support in venues without space for projection screens. We also carry a wide selection of interactive touchscreens for audience interactivity and as digital whiteboards on stage.Camera productions
A camera is always an important element in capable video solutions, particularly for digital meetings. We have camera chains that capture and reproduce images in both full HD/1080p and 4K resolution. We also offer remote-controlled PTZ cameras operated by a video engineer (BING) from F.O.H. – ideal when a physical camera operator is impractical for space or budget reasons.Video mixers and media servers
With a video mixer we receive different video sources and control which one is output. We have smaller mixers for simpler assignments and larger solutions with advanced signal matrices and media servers that give the operator great creative freedom. A combination of a Watchout media server and a video mixer from Barco or Blackmagic Design is frequently used.Preview monitors and stage clocks
As a complement to our presentation and event video solutions, we offer a variety of preview monitors and countdown clocks for speakers on stage. The producer or video technician easily controls screens facing the speaker, showing the output image, the next slide (current-next) and a timer indicating time remaining for the current programme item.Computers for presentations and playback
For all our video solutions we use premium-segment computers to ensure the highest performance and reliability. All machines are equipped with industry-leading software for specific purposes including film playback, projector control, LED wall management and signal monitoring.Streaming and broadcasting
For digital meetings, the video department offers streaming and broadcasting services. We typically use streaming services such as Nanocosmos, Wowza and Dacast, and can also stream directly to platforms such as Teams and Zoom. As a complement to the video stream, we offer a streaming and interactivity platform in partnership with Swedish Twebcast.Frequently asked questions about video technology
What is the difference between an LED wall and a projector?
An LED wall is self-illuminating and works well in bright environments and outdoors – it requires no darkness and takes up very little depth. A projector is lighter to transport and more cost-effective for large surfaces, but requires either a darker room or a high-brightness model. Rear projection also has the advantage that speakers can stand directly in front of the screen without casting a shadow. We help you choose the right solution based on venue, budget and programme.
Can you deliver camera production without a physical camera operator on stage?
Yes. We offer remote-controlled PTZ cameras (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) operated by a video engineer (BING) from F.O.H. This is a cost-effective alternative when space or budget does not allow a physical camera operator on stage, while still delivering a professional and dynamic image.
What resolutions do you support for camera production?
We have camera chains that capture and transmit in Full HD (1080p) and 4K. The choice of resolution depends on whether the event is being streamed, recorded for post-production or only shown live in the venue.
Can you stream directly to Teams or Zoom?
Yes, we can stream directly to Teams, Zoom and other platforms. We also work with dedicated streaming services such as Nanocosmos, Wowza and Dacast, as well as Swedish Twebcast for combined streaming and interactivity in the same platform.
What is a Watchout media server and do I need one?
Watchout is a media server that controls and synchronises visual content across multiple screens and projectors simultaneously. It is the standard solution when you have complex video setups with panoramic screens, multiple LED surfaces or when lighting and video need to be synchronised via timecode. For simpler presentations, a standard computer with presentation software is often sufficient.
Do you deliver video solutions outdoors?
Yes. Outdoors we use IP-rated LED screens with high brightness that handle daylight and weather. Projectors also work outdoors in controlled environments, for example onto facades at night.
How long does it take to rig a large LED wall?
It depends on size and venue. A 10–15 m wide LED wall typically takes half a day to a full build day including cabling, calibration and testing. We always plan rigging time in close coordination with the venue and other suppliers.
Can you integrate video solutions into a trade fair stand?
Yes, this is one of our most common deliveries. We design and install everything from recessed screens and tablets in kiosk mode to large LED walls built into the stand. Screens can be controlled centrally and display synchronised content across the entire stand.
