Stockholmsrummet

In 2015, we were commissioned by Utsikt Kommunikation to help establish a new initiative at Kulturhuset in Stockholm. The 3D model of Stockholm that had been on the ground floor of Kulturhuset was to be moved down one floor to a completely new location that would be filled with an interactive exhibition about how, where and why Stockholm is growing - Stockholmsrummet.

In close collaboration with the designer Simon Gate, we developed a solution where the model of Stockholm was submerged under a glass floor so guests could explore the city from above on their own. The glass floor would also have built-in lighting that could both illuminate specific parts of the city and also simulate how daylight moves across the city over the course of a day.

Where the physical model and glass floor ended, Stockholm continued as a floor foil and covered the floor over the entire room. On the walls of the room, various exhibitions were built that could gradually be replaced, as Stockholm develops.

The Stockholm room continued to develop over the years and over time we have supplemented the room with an entrance portal entirely in LED and several new installations on the walls of the room.
