Our solutions for events at 3Arena

3Arena

3Arena (formerly Tele2 Arena) in Johanneshov is one of Sweden's largest arenas – and since its inauguration in 2013, one of Europe's most acclaimed event arenas. In 2014 the arena won the title "Venue of the Year" at the Stadium Business Awards, beating out Wembley and Madison Square Garden among others.

We have built productions at 3Arena since 2014, and the assignments have varied enormously. We helped Tele2 with their major staff party Tele2 Awards – a large-scale production with a mingle area and décor covering half the arena floor and a seated dinner with artists for 2,000 guests on the other side. We built an exclusive nightclub for 300 guests in the middle of the arena floor for Daniel Wellington, with projected video walls and Sebastian Ingrosso in the DJ booth. We have done PWC's "Turspelen" and a wide range of other corporate events, trade shows and conferences.

What we can offer for your event at 3Arena

Here we have set out the services we typically offer to clients organising events at 3Arena.

Sound technology

Whether you are doing a concert for 40,000 visitors, a corporate event or a small lecture with silent meeting technology, good sound is always equally important. We have extensive experience delivering professional sound solutions in both small and large arenas, and 3Arena is no exception. For the productions we have built at 3Arena, we have supplied sound to artists including Klara Hammarström, Moneybrother, Miriam Bryant, Icona Pop, Sebastian Ingrosso, Ola Salo, Viktor Leksell and Linnea Henriksson.

Lighting technology

We often say that light is both function and form, and that is certainly true at 3Arena. The arena is equipped with a massive lighting rig for illuminating a sporting event, but if you want to create more atmospheric lighting for a dinner or party, you need to rig it specifically for your event.

We plan the lighting of your event from start to finish. We draw up a design for your approval, then produce power and weight calculations and check with the arena so that everything is in order, and finally ensure that the lighting solution gets up and down in the arena in a cost-effective and safe way. All you need to do is experience it on the night.

Rigging

With its 42 m of interior clear height between the artificial pitch and the underside of the roof structure, hanging things from the ceiling at 3Arena is quite a challenge – whether it is speakers, lights, video screens or décor. With our experience, we design solutions that are both stylish and functional, and that can also be rigged safely and at a reasonable cost.

For the actual ceiling rigging, we work closely with one of Sweden's best rigging companies, Scandinavian Rigging Service. Together we plan everything that needs to go up, ensuring it hangs securely and comes up and down efficiently.

Video technology

A large arena usually means large display surfaces. Or many of them. It can also mean a small but ultra-sharp, high-resolution screen for a management meeting with ten participants in the middle of the floor. Whatever the solution, we have screens that do the job. We have LED walls, projection surfaces, projectors and TV screens. For the screens, we have video mixers, media servers, presentation equipment and everything needed to deliver professional video solutions.

But beyond all the technology, we have above all a fantastic group of experienced technicians who rig, de-rig and operate our solutions at 3Arena. With them, you can feel completely confident.

Décor

In large arenas, the décor also tends to scale up accordingly. A small entrance carpet for guests becomes several hundred square metres, and a handful of bollards becomes thirty to line the entrance through the crocodile gap.

Our décor department delivers carpeting, room draping, furniture and décor for events at 3Arena. They build multi-level stages, makeup stations, gaming stations, bars and lounge environments. Why not let half the arena become a large urban environment? We have done it before.

Carpentry

The carpentry workshop is the décor department's extended arm. They produce all the décor and set design that is not already in our stock. They build custom stages, walls, modules and podiums, and help the lighting department produce custom-built light fixtures and décor with integrated lighting.

Want custom-produced décor for your event? Don't hesitate to get in touch with our carpentry team.

Print

The print department delivers printed banners, cut-out logos, vinyl wraps and everything in between. For events at 3Arena, the print department has delivered banners up to 40 m long and 8 m high, dividing the entire arena in two or serving as a stage backdrop. They have made banners wrapped around truss towers to evoke tower blocks. They have made cut-out logos in plexiglass and foam board for the stages. They have produced stage wraps, window vinyl, floor vinyl and much more.

Content & Graphics

With large screens and print surfaces, excellent visual material and print originals are critical. Our content and graphics department produces new graphic material for events and adapts existing assets to the event's specific dimensions and resolution requirements. Let us help you get the most out of your screen and print solutions. Our designers have extensive experience working with graphics for events, and once the material is produced they work closely with our video technicians and print installers who run and mount the material on site. This saves both time and money.

Project management

Running events in large arenas can be a real challenge. There are large spaces and many factors to consider that may not be as obvious as in smaller productions. Our project managers have extensive experience working in large arenas and coordinate our delivery in consultation with the venue. They act as a sounding board ahead of the event and on the day become your single point of contact for the entire production – both design and technology.

Transport & Logistics

The logistics department ensures that all goods and materials arrive at and depart from the arena safely and cost-effectively. They set up a logistics schedule and ensure the right equipment is in place at the right time during set-up and break-down. With a fleet of our own trucks and trailers, we can consolidate deliveries from our different departments, keeping our CO2 footprint down.

Concept & Visualisation

Large events place great demands at every level. That is why it is especially important that everyone involved shares the same vision. Our visualisation department produces scaled 3D sketches and floor plans that you and our project manager review before the event to ensure every detail is in order. The project manager then takes the same drawings to review with the arena and other suppliers, so that everyone's needs – power, dimensions and evacuation routes – are fully met.

Pre-programming

When you do events at arenas like 3Arena, a great deal has to happen in a short time. Materials have to be delivered, rigging points set, technology rigged in the ceiling before the stage and décor can be built on the floor. Often all of this has to happen the day before the event, leaving very little time to rehearse and test-run the programme.

That is why it is a good idea to pre-programme your material with our technicians in our visualisation studio. We build the entire event in a 3D environment and connect our lighting consoles and media servers to that environment. Together with our technicians you can load your films and presentations into our equipment and pre-programme the entire event virtually. When the show is locked, we pack up the equipment and take it to the arena – and replay the same show, this time with the actual rig in place. This saves an enormous amount of time.

Frequently asked questions about events at 3Arena

How high is the ceiling at 3Arena and what does it mean for rigging?

The interior clear height at 3Arena is 42 metres – from the artificial pitch to the underside of the roof structure. This is one of the highest in the Nordic region, meaning all rigging must be carefully planned with regard to line lengths, lift times and safety. We always work with Scandinavian Rigging Service for suspensions in 3Arena's roof, and include power and weight calculations in all rigging plans.

How much weight can be suspended from the roof at 3Arena?

The roof at 3Arena is rated for up to 100 tonnes of lighting and sound equipment. In practice, this means large line array systems, full-scale lighting rigs and LED walls can all be flown without load restrictions – a unique situation compared to most conference venues. We always produce weight calculations and coordinate with the arena before every rigging plan.

How large is the arena floor and how much of it can be used for an event?

The artificial pitch at 3Arena is approximately 7,000 sqm. For events, the entire floor or any portion of it can be used – we have produced everything from full-pitch setups to more intimate configurations using just a quarter of the area. The arena can also be divided using banners and structures, as we did for Tele2 Awards where half the floor was a mingle area and the other half a seated dinner.

Does the retractable roof work and can events be held open-air at 3Arena?

Yes, the roof is fully operational and opens a 70 × 105 metre aperture in approximately 20 minutes. This makes 3Arena a unique hybrid venue – you can hold a concert or event under an open sky, which can be covered quickly if the weather changes. For event producers, this adds flexibility but also requires planning the technology and rigging for both scenarios.

How long does it take to set up and break down an event at 3Arena?

It depends on the scale of the production, but as a guideline, a medium-sized corporate event with a stage, lighting rig and décor takes 1–2 days to set up and 1 day to break down. Arena productions with full ceiling rigging, LED panoramas and large set designs may require 3–4 build days. We always pre-programme the show in our studio in advance to minimise the time required on-site at the arena.

How does loading in and out of 3Arena work?

3Arena has loading docks and goods entrances designed for large productions – trucks and trailers can be driven directly to floor level via the arena's loading bay. We always coordinate the load-in and load-out schedule with the arena's production team to avoid conflicts with parallel deliveries. With our own fleet of trucks and trailers, we handle most of the transport from our warehouse in Sollentuna.

What types of events has EDGE produced at 3Arena?

We have produced corporate events, staff parties, galas, trade shows and nightclub productions at 3Arena since 2014. References include Tele2 Awards (2019, 2022 and 2023) with 2,000 guests, seated dinners and artists including Klara Hammarström, Viktor Leksell and Miriam Bryant – as well as an exclusive nightclub for Daniel Wellington with Sebastian Ingrosso as DJ, and PWC's Turspelen.

What budget should you expect for technology and décor at an event at 3Arena?

Arena productions generally require larger technology and décor budgets than conference venues – the large volumes require more material, more rigging work and more technicians. As a guideline, a well-produced arena event with a stage, lighting rig and décor starts at several hundred thousand kronor and can scale significantly for full-scale galas. We always produce a transparent quote tailored to your venue, your number of guests and your programme.
