Avicii Arena / Globen

Globen, Ericsson Globe and now Avicii Arena – the building has carried many names, just like the extraordinary history it holds. Avicii Arena in southern Stockholm is one of the world's most iconic spherical buildings, with a volume of 605,000 cubic metres and an interior height of 65 m. It is an event arena that truly commands the room and offers fantastic potential for meetings and events of all kinds.

With approximately 4,500 square metres, the Arena floor in Avicii Arena is a perfect surface for trade shows, conferences, concerts, dinners and parties. Or why not a combination of all five? We have produced trade shows and events in all kinds of configurations across the arena floor and in every direction. We know what looks great and gives you the most for your budget.

Next door to Avicii Arena is the venue Annexet, a standalone space of 2,304 sqm (64 × 36 m) with an additional 710 sqm of balcony and mezzanine, and a clear height of 10 m. Annexet can function as part of a larger event at Avicii Arena or as a venue for a completely separate event. We have built a wide range of solutions for conferences, dinners, parties and trade shows in Annexet – and have produced many events where Annexet has served as the conference venue during the day and Avicii Arena as the gala venue in the evening, or the reverse, with Annexet as a nightclub.

Between Avicii Arena and Annexet is also the venue E4 Norra – a smaller standalone space often used for minor trade shows, concerts, after-parties or mingling.

What we can offer for your event at Avicii Arena

Here we have set out the services we typically offer to clients organising events at Avicii Arena.

Sound technology

With its unique spherical shape, Avicii Arena presents a genuinely interesting acoustic challenge. With extensive experience behind us, our sound department delivers solutions that sound fantastic – regardless of whether the stage is on the long side, the short side or in the middle of the room. With careful planning and the right equipment you can trust that we will take excellent care of your speakers and artists on stage.

Lighting technology

A large arena provides excellent conditions for creating impressive lighting rigs. We have supplied lighting for conferences, fashion shows, concerts, corporate events and trade shows – from rigs with hundreds of fixtures to small, discreet lighting installations for individual trade fair stands.

Whatever your event requires, we have experience of what works best in an arena like Avicii Arena. Let us develop a lighting design for your project, or share your vision and we will translate it into a detailed lighting plan that both looks spectacular and gets up in the air quickly and safely.

Rigging

Events in an arena like Avicii Arena almost always require suspending something from the ceiling – whether lighting rigs, speakers, LED screens or all three. When we rig technology at Avicii Arena, we do so in close collaboration with professional rigging companies such as Scandinavian Rigging Service. Together we plan everything that needs to be suspended and ensure it hangs securely and comes up and down efficiently.

Video technology

Our video department delivers solutions adapted for an arena. Sometimes it is large projected surfaces on and around a stage. Sometimes it is a double-sided LED screen – a video solution for the conference on one side and for the party on the other. Whatever the number of screens and directions, our video department builds a competent solution that ensures every guest can engage with the content being shown. The video department also supplies presentation equipment, media servers and camera solutions.

A key asset to bear in mind when planning an event at Avicii Arena is the large Jumbotron mounted in the centre of the room – a large four-sided, high-resolution LED screen. Combined with the LED strip running around the underside of the B-stand, this is the starting point for most video solutions in the arena.

Décor

Our décor department supplies stages, carpeting, furniture, fabrics and decorations for all kinds of events at Avicii Arena. Sometimes it is an 8×8 m stage under the Jumbotron, and sometimes it is a 200 sqm multi-level stage with illuminated staircases. The décor department builds solutions whether you need a traditional conference and gala dinner stage or want to create experience hubs in every corner of the arena floor.

Carpentry

Our carpentry workshop frames our solutions at Avicii Arena with custom-produced elements that add the finishing touch. This can involve producing bespoke stage components on behalf of the décor department, building trade fair stands and display podiums, or constructing a striking entrance portal that leaves a real impression on your guests.

Print

The print department produces printed banners, vinyl wraps, cut-out logos and everything in between. This could mean vinyl wrapping the floor at the entrance or the welcome counter, building a vinyl-wrapped entrance tunnel into the arena floor, or wrapping the entire staircase from the stands down to the floor.

Content & Graphics

A great video solution is only as good as the content being shown. Let us help you produce custom graphics for the screens, the Jumbotron and the LED strip. Our designers work closely with your team and have extensive experience of which formats and pixel dimensions work best for our solutions – and collaborate with the video technicians on site during your event.

Project management

Producing an event in an arena can feel overwhelming – there are many new questions and parameters arising from multiple stakeholders, both before and during the event. Our project managers are experienced in arena projects and have full command of every detail needed to make your event a success. They guide you through the entire process so you can calmly focus on what matters most to you.

Transport & Logistics

When the day of your event arrives, a great deal needs to happen simultaneously. That is why it is especially important that the build and breakdown flows work as planned and that materials and personnel are in the right place at the right time. Our logistics department coordinates all deliveries with our on-site project manager and ensures a smooth flow via the Valhall loading bay.

Concept & Visualisation

A shared vision is always important, and perhaps especially so for large projects. Our visualisation department produces scaled CAD drawings and 3D visualisations showing exactly what your event will look like once it is in place. The drawings are also shared with the Avicii Arena team during the preparatory phase so that all parties work from the same brief and everyone's requirements are met.

Pre-programming

To save time on site in the arena, it is a good idea to pre-programme the video and lighting sequences days or weeks before the event. At our premises in Sollentuna, we can set up the technical equipment – lighting consoles and media servers – that will be used at your event and calmly load all the films and presentations while going through everything with you. This is especially important if you want to create a synchronised intro or a timecoded lighting show.

Frequently asked questions about events at Avicii Arena

What are the acoustic challenges at Avicii Arena and how do you solve them?

Avicii Arena's spherical shape creates complex acoustic conditions – sound reflects from the curved walls and ceiling in ways that differ significantly from rectangular venues. We always plan speaker placement carefully with delay towers and subwoofer configurations that counteract echo and uneven coverage. The result is great sound regardless of whether the stage is on the long side, the short side or in the middle of the arena.

How does the Jumbotron and LED strip work and can we use them?

The Jumbotron is a large four-sided LED screen mounted in the centre of Avicii Arena, and the LED strip runs around the underside of the B-stand. Both are the arena's own installations and are included in the venue booking. Our video department connects presentation equipment and media servers to these screens and combines them with any additional LED surfaces and projectors for a complete video solution.

How is technology rigged from the ceiling at Avicii Arena?

Rigging in Avicii Arena's spherical ceiling is done via the technical walkway and wire system running along the equator and up to the top's technical bridge. We always work with Scandinavian Rigging Service for suspensions and include power and weight calculations in the rigging plan. Rigging costs are a function of number of lifts and line lengths – we always budget specifically for your production.

Can Annexet be used as part of an event at Avicii Arena?

Yes, Annexet is directly adjacent to Avicii Arena and connects easily. The most common setup is to use Annexet for a conference during the day and Avicii Arena for dinner and entertainment in the evening – or the reverse, with Annexet as a nightclub after a gala in Avicii. We have produced many such combined events and know what works logistically and experientially.

How long does it take to build an event on the arena floor at Avicii Arena?

As a guideline, a medium-sized corporate event with a stage, lighting rig and décor takes 1–2 days to set up and 1 day to break down. Larger productions with full rigging via the Valhall loading bay, panoramic stages and complex set designs may require 3–4 days. We always pre-programme the video and lighting sequences in our studio in advance to minimise the time required on the arena floor.

How does the Valhall loading bay work?

Avicii Arena's main loading facility for materials and equipment is Valhall – an underground loading and distribution hub beneath the arena. Lifts and portals sized for large productions enable efficient load-in and load-out. We always plan the Valhall flow in coordination with the arena's production team and synchronise with our logistics department for a smooth build.

What types of events has EDGE produced at Avicii Arena?

We have produced trade shows (Dustin Expo), corporate events and galas (ICA Handlarnas Dag), fashion shows (Goldwell Global Zoom), concerts and staff parties. We have built stages ranging from 8×8 m under the Jumbotron to 200 sqm multi-level stage designs, nightclub environments for 300 guests, laser tunnels as venue entrances, and experience hubs framing the entire arena floor.

What budget should you expect for technology and décor at an event at Avicii Arena?

Avicii Arena's size means more material and more technicians than most venues – the large volumes require sound, lighting and décor to be scaled up to fill the space well. As a guideline, a well-produced arena event with a stage, lighting rig and décor starts at several hundred thousand kronor and can scale significantly for full-scale galas with ceiling rigging. We always produce a transparent quote tailored to your venue, your number of guests and your programme.
