Stockholm Waterfront

The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in central Stockholm is home to the Stockholm Waterfront congress and event centre. With a variety of conference and event venues, Waterfront is very popular for hosting events. We have delivered technology and design to events at Waterfront with high frequency since the day it opened in 2011 and continue to do so today. We have done trade shows, conferences, concerts, dinners, parties and often a combination of all five.

Congress Hall A1 has a ceiling height of 15+ m, a floor area of approximately 1,250 sqm, a retractable grandstand for 1,500 guests, an existing 40 sqm stage, an existing line array sound system, three large projection screens and a large lighting rig with moving lights.

Above A1, the congress hall continues upward with a B-stand to conference rooms A2-A4, which can accommodate another 1,500 guests. This section can be divided off from A1 by a wall to create a standalone venue for 1,500 guests, or divided further into three separate rooms each accommodating approximately 500 guests. Up here there is also a complete installed technical solution with a screen, sound and lighting in each section.

The multi-function area M1 adjoins the congress hall and, via a retractable wall, can add approximately 1,000 sqm to the floor area in A1 – a combined area of approximately 2,160 sqm. Inside, the ceiling height is 6.5 m and there are panoramic windows towards City Hall and the Riddarfjärden bay. M1 also has an existing lighting rig with moving fixtures as a good starting point.

Two floors down from A1 and M1, on level 2, are the venues C1, C2 and C3 – three smaller banquet halls in a row that can be used as one large space, or divided into two or three sections. These rooms work excellently for a conference, dinner, streaming studio or trade show.

In addition, Stockholm Waterfront has fantastic bars on the fourth and fifth floors. Both BAR4 and BAR5 have panoramic windows offering a superb view of City Hall and are ideal for mingling, after-work events and after-parties. Or why not a breakout stage?

What we can offer for your event at Stockholm Waterfront

Here we have set out the services we typically offer to clients organising events at Stockholm Waterfront.

Sound technology

Waterfront has competent sound systems installed in all of its venues. From a proper line array system in A1 to ceiling speakers for background music in the foyers, BAR4 and BAR5. However, depending on what your event requires, these systems may need to be upgraded or supplemented.

We typically supplement the line array system in A1 with extra subwoofers, a mixing console, wireless microphones, DJ equipment, live band equipment and our own sound engineers. In the other venues, it is often a matter of adding a complete system when you want to do something that the existing systems were not designed for – such as having a live band or DJ in BAR4/BAR5 or in M1.

Lighting technology

Most of Waterfront's venues are also equipped with competent lighting solutions from the outset. In A1 there are truss sections on motorised hoists that can be easily raised or lowered as needed. These carry approximately 20 moving fixtures that work excellently as back and front lighting for a stage and for atmospheric ambient light.

In the adjacent M1 there is a pipe system in the ceiling for rigging, with another 20 or so moving fixtures mounted for quickly creating ambient light or lighting a trade show.

Our lighting solutions at Waterfront typically include stage and set design lighting, additional atmospheric lighting, supplements to existing rigs and above all our own lighting technicians.

Video technology

Just as with sound and lighting, Waterfront also has a strong video technology foundation. In A1 there are three large projection screens, and in the upper grandstand section A2-A4 – which can be used as a standalone venue – there are three more large screens. The C-venues are also equipped with screens in their standard configuration.

Our video solutions at Waterfront almost always start by replacing the existing screen control with a more advanced video mixer or media server. To this we typically add a camera solution and presentation equipment with preview monitors, clickers and presentation computers.

We also regularly add screens alongside Waterfront's existing ones – for example additional LED screens around the stage, or a 27–30 m wide video panorama covering the entire stage backdrop. Here, only your imagination sets the limits.

Décor

Our décor department brings colour and form to Waterfront's venues. They deliver stages in all shapes and sizes, room draping, carpeting, stage furniture and lounges. Together with the carpentry workshop and print department, they also build entrance portals, carpet runners and badge walls.

Carpentry

Our carpentry workshop builds custom stages, stage walls, set designs and everything in between. They also help the décor department build badge walls, photo walls and entrance portals.

Over the many years we have been building event productions at Waterfront, the carpentry workshop has built all manner of things – from large plywood stages to large cubes for projection, or a stage clad in steel for a certain Swedish steelmaker.

Print

The print department is frequently involved in our Waterfront events. They deliver cut-out logos on lecterns, vinyl wraps for photo walls and badge walls, wraps on the venue's bar and reception counters, window vinyl, floor vinyl and printed panels welcoming guests both outside the entrance and inside.

If there is a creative idea to do with print at Waterfront, we have most likely done it. Let us propose how we can frame your event with print.

Content & Graphics

Whether you have large screens or large print surfaces, the result is only as good as the graphic material being shown or printed. Our content and graphics department are experts in graphics for both screen and print and will help you either develop a completely new look for your event or adapt existing assets.

The content and graphics department works closely with the video technicians and print installers who will run and mount the material at your event, ensuring everything is delivered in the right format and resolution.

Project management

Practice makes perfect, and that expression truly applies here. Since Waterfront opened in 2011, we have been on site with hundreds of different projects and clients. Waterfront is one of the venues we work in most frequently.

With that experience and the support of our venue specialists, our project managers take care of you and your project from start to finish. They are involved in planning ahead of the event and can offer sound advice on how to get the most out of your event. They are also on site during delivery and coordinate all departments, so you only need one point of contact for the production.

Transport & Logistics

Our logistics department ensures all our material arrives at Waterfront and departs from it quickly and efficiently. Working closely with our project managers, they ensure all trailers and trucks load and unload according to a pre-planned logistics schedule, avoiding bottlenecks during both set-up and break-down.

Concept & Visualisation

Whether you are building a small or large production, it is essential that everyone shares the same vision of the end result. We place great importance on producing scaled drawings and 3D visualisations of our events so that everyone involved has a common picture and can suggest changes long before the first truck leaves our warehouse.

Pre-programming

Like many event venues in Stockholm, Waterfront is very popular and often booked for other events both the days before and after your event. With limited time on site, it can be a good idea to meet with the operating crew in advance and go through the programme run in peace and quiet. At our pre-programming studio in Sollentuna, we can also connect all the mixing consoles to a 3D rendering of your event and pre-visualise both the video and lighting sequences.

Frequently asked questions about events at Stockholm Waterfront

What is the difference between A1 and M1 and how are they combined?

A1 is Waterfront's congress hall – a fully equipped event venue with 15+ m ceiling height, an existing 40 sqm stage, existing line array sound, a moving lighting rig and three large projection screens. M1 is an adjacent multi-function space of approximately 1,000 sqm with a 6.5 m ceiling. They connect via a retractable wall, giving a combined area of approximately 2,160 sqm – perfect for combined conference and trade show setups or when you want mingling in M1 and dinner in A1.

Can a car be driven into Stockholm Waterfront?

Yes. Via the loading dock on level 4 and the retractable wall to A1, cars and other vehicles can be driven directly onto the floor. We have produced car launches and trade shows with vehicles in the A1+M1 combination. There are three loading docks in total – two on level 2 and one on level 4.

What existing technology does Waterfront have and what does EDGE supplement it with?

A1 has an existing 40 sqm stage, line array sound, a moving lighting rig with approximately 20 fixtures and three large projection surfaces. M1 has around 20 moving fixtures in the pipe system. We almost always supplement with extra subwoofers, a mixing console, wireless microphones and a more advanced video mixer or media server to replace the existing screen control – plus our own sound and lighting technicians.

How wide can a video panorama be in A1?

We have built a 27 m wide video panorama in A1 – one of the widest we have delivered in a Stockholm venue. With LED walls mounted on and around the stage backdrop and a media server for control, it is possible to cover the entire rear stage wall with a seamless panoramic image. It is one of the strongest visual solutions achievable in a conference venue.

Can a live stream or TV broadcast be produced from Waterfront?

Yes, we have produced live broadcasts and digital events from Waterfront on several occasions – including Salesforce Live and Nobel Week Dialogue. The C-venues are ideal for building a studio environment for a broadcast, while A1 handles a live audience production simultaneously. We manage the complete broadcast chain with cameras, video mixer, encoder and streaming.

How do BAR4 and BAR5 work for after-work events and after-parties?

BAR4 and BAR5 are Waterfront's cocktail bars on levels 4 and 5, with panoramic windows overlooking City Hall and the Riddarfjärden bay. They are excellent for mingling, after-work and after-parties – and can be supplemented with a DJ or breakout stage. We rig lighting and sound in both bars and know what works to set the right atmosphere.

What types of events has EDGE produced at Stockholm Waterfront?

We have produced trade shows, conferences, galas, award ceremonies, digital studios, annual general meetings, live broadcasts and staff parties. References include Nobel Week Dialogue, Guldägget (2022 and 2023), Salesforce Live, Kommuninvest annual meeting, Netlight Kick Off, Allergan Spring Meeting and LFF Kick Off. Waterfront is one of the venues we work in most frequently.
