A sleek stage in an already beautiful venue
What do you do in a venue that's already beautiful? Good question – and the starting point when, on behalf of Svensk Handel, we developed the stage design and technical solution for Retail Awards 2023 at Nalen in Stockholm on 8 May.The result was a sleek, black tiered stage framed by glowing LED edge strips. From the stage we raised two high-resolution LED screens and tied them together with a curved wall of print in the gala's event style. As the crowning touch we mounted our Edgetron fixtures above the screens and between the print sections – striking.
Beyond the stage, we delivered wireless LED cubes for the tables, ambient lighting, a lounge area at the entrance and technology for the after party in Harlem.

For the after party in Harlem, we delivered a complete DJ setup with Nexus 2 DJ equipment, booth monitor and cabling. Read more about soundLight
In the main hall, we framed the stage with Edgetron fixtures above the LED screens and between the print sections, along with LED strips running across both tiers of the stage. Wireless LED cubes on the tables created a cohesive lighting environment out in the audience.
In the entrance, Astera Titan Tubes and LED cans contributed to the ambient lighting, while the pedestals were lit with focused spotlights.
For the after party in Harlem, we rigged LED bars as ambient lighting, moving lights on truss towers and scenographic lighting around the DJ stage. Read more about lightVideo & LED
On stage we raised two high-resolution LED screens measuring 2.5×3 metres with 1.9 mm pixel pitch, connected via media server and operated by our video technician during rehearsals and the live show. A stage monitor gave the speakers a clear view of the on-screen content.
In Harlem, the nominees were shown on a 65-inch screen in portrait format, mounted on a stand. Read more about video & ledDecor & Set Design
The entrance was dressed with a gold needle felt carpet and framed by brass pillars with black ropes. Along the sides we placed black podiums for display, and at both the main entrance and the doors to the main hall stood taller arrangements with gold-toned branches. A black photo wall carpet provided a restrained backdrop for the welcome area.
On the main stage, we laid black needle felt carpet across both tiers and built two band podiums in the same finish with black fronts.
In Harlem we built a 2×2 metre DJ stage with carpet, a Tropic DJ podium and draped off the back-of-house area with black fabric on stands. Read more about decor & set designCarpentry

The curved backdrop wall behind the main stage was wrapped in the gala's event graphics. In Harlem, we produced a logo for the DJ booth along with vinyl wrapping for the venue's three bar counters. Read more about printContent & Graphics
